Views Of Quran On The Submission Of Islam
Kufr and Kafir are the derivative forms of certain words and they tell about the deliberate rejection, which means mistaking the idea of faith. The grace of Almighty Allah blesses an individual with guidance, when he has faith in himself. There are the consequences of rejection in the faith of Allah, which can lead to the impure state and the Eman of a person becomes dead. There are many shades of meaning of the root kafara, which are 1) Denying the goodness of Allah. 2) Rejecting the faith and denying the Holy Quran and his revelation 3) Ascribing some limitations or attributing to Allah, which is derogatory in nature.

The word ‘kafara’ means ‘infidel’ in modern days and it does not mean the rejection of faith. Aramic ‘kfr’ means ‘price of life’, ransom, while Akkadin “kaparu” means to wipe off redemption. It was a natural obligation on individuals for buying the protection for their lives. Allah imposes ransom on each of the Israelites at the time of Moses. ‘Kfr’ means ransom for offering sin as mentioned and stated in Biblia Hebraica. ‘kfr’ means cover over, to pacify and propitiate as mentioned in Book of Genesis.
It is very necessary to remember that some of the early copies of Holy Quran did not have signs which are necessary for the vocalization. When these vocal signs appeared at a later stage, the Aramaic ‘kfr’changed to the ‘kafaru’. Similarly, the word of Quran ‘andhartuhum’ means ‘you warn them’, the word Syriac means ‘giving notice and making a vow’, while Aramaic ‘ndr’ means to ‘vow’.
