The landscape of Mecca is described as raw. Lot of mountains lie in the pile of crushed rubble. Vegetation is very sparse and only a close inspection reveals small clumps of bushes that are of reddish brown color and are scattered among the slopes of rubble strewn. Area around the Khana Kaaba is surrounded by the hills. There is an uneasy mixture of glass buildings and modern steel that is mixed with the rough dwellings of concrete.
There are wide ring of Hotels for millions of all the pilgrims who come for the Umrah and Hajj every year. Recitation of Holy Quran will tell you more about the significance of this Holy place. Between the Hotels, there are markets lining the streets. All the carpet families were seated on the carpets. There was a roofless central courtyard, that rose like black monolith. At this place, there lied compass point of all the Muslim prayers. Everything around it possessed weight and depth.
Then there was Tawaf, which consisted of walking around Khana Kaaba seven times. Each of the circuit started with raising one hand in salute towards the black stone, which is embedded in corner of Kaaba. The cube of Kaaba catches the attention of everybody. Its presence was very intense, powerful and has a very unique simplicity that adds to its stature. It is a privilege to watch tawaf from the balconies of second floor of mosque.
It shows masterpiece of co-ordination. After leaving the Kaaba, you feel separation from the world, you just left behind. It is truly a unique experience and everyone and every Muslim must visit this Holy Place once in his lifetime.
