In the corner of Uzbek capital, lies Tashkent, which is one of the most sacred Islamic Relics, the world’s oldest Quran. From the oldest Koran to the Online Quran of today, there is a long journey of this Holy Book. It reminds us of the role which the Central Asia played in the history of Muslims. The Koran is kept in the old library of Tashkent which is known as Hast-Imam, it is a place known to many visitors of this city.

The library is located in the series of dusty lanes, near the grave of scholar Kaffel Shashi. The Mufti of Uzbekistan, who is the highest religious leader, has his offices in the old madrassa. Across the road is the non-descript mosque and the sacred hair, whose collections are the most important historical things in the Central Asia.
According to young assistant in office of mufti, approximately 3000 manuscripts and 20,000 books are present in the library. The Holy Quran is kept in special glass fronted vault built into the wall of inner room.
Caliph Othman made five copies of Holy Quran. After the death of Othman, it was taken to Kufa in the modern Iraq. Several Hundred years later, the Central Asian conqueror found the Koran and took it to his capital named Samarkand.
It stayed there for almost four centuries, until the Russians conquered Samarkand in the year 1868. Russian Government then sent Othman Koran to St Petersburg, where it was kept in the library. Due to this reason, the world’s oldest Quran still remains in the quarter of old Tashkent.
