There is one gift that all Muslim parents want to award their offspring, i.e. the knowledge of Holy Quran. This is because two of the supreme authorities of Islam (and whole humanity), Allah Almighty and Allah’s Last Apostle Muhammad (PBUH) advise not only Muslims, but all mankind to resort to the supreme guidance that Qur’an is.

This fact can be authenticating from many Quranic verses (containing Allah’s words) as well as hadith (containing detailed explanations of Allah’s teachings in Prophet Muhammad’s PBUH words).

Given below are examples from Qur’an as well as hadith,

Alif-Lâm-Râ. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings]. (This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you (O Muhammad SAW) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allâh and Islâmic Monotheism) by their Lord’s Leave to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of all Praise.(Al Qur’an; 14:1)

This verse specifically contains the word “mankind”. Allah Almighty addresses Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to resort to Holy Quran to guide not only Muslims, but all mankind. That is why Muslims make sure their children get the best of Quran Reading lessons by arranging best Quran tutors for them, particularly during early part of their lives.

Similarly, Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also stated many ahadith highlighting the importance of Quran knowledge, such as:

The house in which the Holy Quran is read looks as bright as the shining stars to those who live in heavens”.
